Tennessee’s whole staff watches 2018 point guard Anfernee Simons

Tennessee’s whole staff was in Wednesday to see Anfernee Simons, the Class of 2018 point guard from IMG Academy (FL).

Simons went for 22 points in a 90-60 victory over Bristol Prep (Tenn.)

Dayton also watched Simons for two straight days last weekend at a prep showcase in Rhode Island. UCLA saw him there as well.

Ranked No. 8 in the 2018 ESPN 100, Simons recently said he’s been hearing from N.C. State, Tennessee, SMU, Dayton, Florida, UCLA and South Carolina, among others.

Simons is also eligible for the 2018 NBA Draft and now has the option of going to college or the NBA, the latter of which he will consider “if the opportunity is there.” He turns 19 in June and is one year removed from his high school graduating class, thus making him draft-eligible.

The latest ESPN mock draft projects Simons as the No. 19 pick to the Milwaukee Bucks.

“I think he is looking at all his options,” John Mahoney, the head coach of IMG’s post-graduate program, said recently.
