South Carolina State Player Awake, Responsive After Collapsing During Game

By MIKE McCURRY

South Carolina State senior guard Tyvoris Solomon is awake, responsive, and listed in fair condition after collapsing on the bench during Saturday’s game against NC State.

It was midway thru the first half that Solomon’s heart stopped, creating a surreal and traumatic atmosphere at PNC Arena.

Solomon was resuscitated and rushed to the hospital. South Carolina State head coach Murray Garvin credited athletic trainer Tyler Long and the EMS staff for saving Solomon’s life.

NC State won the game, 103-71, following a 40-or-so minute delay.
