The NBA Draft is set for June 21 and with about a quarter of the NBA season complete, the Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks are leading the Tankathon standings.
The Bulls (3-15) currently have a 25 chance of landing the No. 1 pick, the Hawks (4-16) have a 20 percent chance and the Mavericks (5-15) own a 15.6 percent chance.
The Nets (7-12), who relayed their pick to the Cavaliers, have a 5.3 chance at the No. 1 pick, while the Knicks (10-9) own just a 0.5 percent chance.
Duke’s Marvin Bagley III, Arizona’s DeAndre Ayton and Luka Doncic of Real Madrid are the leading contenders to be the No. 1 pick in June, with Missouri’s Michael Porter Jr. expected to miss the season after back surgery.
The 6-foot-11 Bagley, who went for 30 points and 15 rebounds in No. 1 Duke’s 87-84 win over Florida on Sunday night, has six double-doubles in eight games this season. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Motion Bracket at the Phil Knight Invitational tournament.
Bagley is averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds on the season.
“This kid’s special and he’s a great teammate,” Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “He’s really at Duke the most unique kid I’ve coached….Because he’s 6-11 and he can guard five positions and he put up two 30 and 15 games in a row as a freshman. Other than that he’s similar to many players that I’ve had.”
The 7-foot Ayton is averaging 20 points and 12.8 rebounds.
The 6-7 Doncic plays for Real Madrid and is also in the mix for the No. 1 pick.
