St. John’s-Rutgers, La Salle-Seton Hall to Play in Support of Disaster Relief

Joining a long line of prominent college basketball programs that have answered the call to help those affected by natural disasters, the St. John’s and Rutgers men’s basketball teams will play an exhibition game on Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. in Piscataway, N.J., benefitting the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

General admission tickets to the contest and parking at The RAC will be $10 each with all net proceeds going to help those in need.  Floor seating, however, will be reserved for Rutgers season ticket holders that occupy those seats throughout the year.

Tickets can be purchased online or by calling https://d.adroll.com/cm/aol/outat 1-866-445-GORU (4678). Tickets will also be available on gameday at the Rutgers Athletics Ticket Office, located at the RAC.

Net proceeds will be derived from admission and parking fees, concessions and merchandise sales. For additional information on American Red Cross Disaster Relief, visit redcross.org.

The contest with the Scarlet Knights will come four days after the Red Storm’s previously scheduled exhibition match against American International University on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. inside Carnesecca Arena

The Red Storm will then kick off the 2017-18 regular season on Friday, Nov. 10, playing host to New Orleans at 7 p.m. on the Queens campus.

SETON HALL TO HOST LA SALLE

The Seton Hall men’s basketball team will play a charity exhibition game against La Salle on Thursday, Nov. 2 at historic Walsh Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. All net proceeds will go to United for Puerto Rico to aid the relief efforts after the island was devastated by the effects of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria.

General admission tickets will be available to the general public for $20 and to Seton Hall students for $5, and they will go on sale on Thursday, October 26 at 10 a.m., either by calling (973) 275-4255 or by visiting the Seton Hall Athletics ticket office in person. On gameday, there will also be a table in the Walsh Gymnasium lobby that will accept in-person donations.

The exhibition was made possible through an NCAA waiver that Seton Hall and La Salle sought. Ordinarily, Div. I exhibition games open to the public cannot be conducted against Div. I opponents.

The game will not be televised or live streamed.

United for Puerto Rico is an initiative brought forth by the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló, in collaboration with the private sector, with the purpose of providing aid and support to those affected in Puerto Rico by the passage of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane María. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to helping the victims affected by these natural disasters in Puerto Rico.
