Jericole Hellems, the 6-foot-6 small forward from Chaminade (MO) College Preparatory School, announced his commitment to NC State on Friday via Twitter. He took an official visit to NC State earlier this year (Aug. 25).
“First, I want like to thank God for the opportunity to even be in this position,” said Hellems in a statement released via Twitter. “Next, I would like to thank my Mom and Dad for supporting me through everything. I love you both! Also, I would like to thank all my coaches for making me the basketball player I am today.”
According to 247Sports, Hellems is ranked as the No. 115 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 3 player from the state of Missouri. He joins Immanuel Bates and Ian Steere as the third commit in the Wolfpack’s 2018 class.
Hellems, who cut his list to seven in August, chose NC State over Arkansas, Florida, Georgia Tech, Missouri, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. In addition to his NC State visit, Hellems also took an official visit to South Carolina last month (Sept. 15).
Playing with Bradley Beal Elite on the Nike EYBL Circuit this past summer, Hellems averaged 25.2 points 7.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 5 pool play games at Peach Jam. In two bracket play games, Hellems averaged 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
