Keonte Kennedy to Xavier

Keonte Kennedy, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Westlake (TX) High School, committed to Xavier on Tuesday following his official visit Sept. 29.

Kennedy chose Xavier over Memphis, Michigan, Nebraska, Texas Tech, and VCU.

“I’m proud to announce I will continue my academic and basketball career at Xavier University,” said Kennedy via Twitter. “I am a Xavier Musketeer ?⚔.”

“It was easy,” Kennedy told D1VISION. “It’s a great program. The coaching staff is outstanding, the players are good people, and the opportunity to go play immediately was the best. Their success speaks for itself. Six out of the last 10 years they went to the Sweet Sixteen. I love winners.”

Kennedy joins Jake Walter as the second commit in the Musketeers 2018 class, giving Xavier the No. 103 ranked recruiting class in the nation and No. 7 in the Big East. Xavier is also in the running for 2018 players such as Ayo Dosunmu, who included Xavier in his final seven last month, and Jermaine Harris, who will announce on Friday between Xavier and Rhode Island.

“I committed on the visit and I love it,” said Kennedy. “They showed me everything I wanted and needed to see! It’s an absolutely perfect fit!”

Playing with RM5 Elite on the Nike EYBL Circuit this past summer, Kennedy averaged nearly 11 points and 4 rebounds per game.
