New York City Hosting Hurricane Relief Charity Basketball Games

On​ ​Saturday, September​ ​30,​​ ​Rudy​ ​King,​ ​Overtime,​ ​and​ ​Game​ ​7​ ​Marketing​ ​invite​ ​the​ ​New​ ​York​ ​community to​ ​help​ ​support​ ​those​ ​impacted​ ​by​ ​the​ ​recent​ ​hurricanes​ ​in​ ​Texas,​ ​Florida,​ ​and​ ​the​ ​Caribbean.

Local​ ​​high​ ​school​ ​basketball​ ​players​ ​will​ ​play​ ​in​ ​a​ ​series​ ​of​ ​games​ ​to​ ​show​ ​their​ ​support​ ​for those​ ​affected.​ ​Athletes​ ​participating​ ​include​ ​star​ ​players​ ​Moses​ ​Brown,​ ​John​ ​Wilson and​ ​Kofi​ ​Cockburn (boys)​ ​and​ ​Kateri​ ​Poole,​ ​Emily​ ​Engstler​ ​and​ ​Earlette​ ​Scott​ ​(girls).

Doors​ ​will​ ​open​ ​at​ ​5 p.m.​ ​at​ ​the​ ​Gauchos​ ​Gym​ ​in​ ​the​ ​Bronx,​ ​where​ ​guests​ ​will​ ​be​ ​asked​ ​to​ ​donate​ ​$10​ ​at​ ​the door,​ ​to​ ​benefit​ ​the​ ​Caribbean​ ​Disaster​ ​Emergency​ ​Management​ ​Agency​ ​(CDEMA),​ ​Florida​ ​Disaster Fund​ ​and​ ​Hurricane​ ​Harvey​ ​Relief​ ​Fund.

“As​ ​a​ ​human-being,​ ​husband​ ​and​ ​father​ ​looking​ ​at​ ​what​ ​has​ ​happened​ ​in​ ​Florida,​ ​Texas​ ​and​ ​the​ ​Caribbean it​ ​is​ ​heart​ ​wrenching​ ​to​ ​see​ ​others​ ​in​ ​such​ ​dire​ ​need,” King said. “​I​ ​felt​ ​it​ ​was​ ​my​ ​obligation​ ​as​ ​a​ ​man​ ​to​ ​help​ ​as​ ​much as​ ​I​ ​could,​ ​also​ ​taking​ ​this​ ​opportunity​ ​to​ ​teach​ ​our​ ​youth​ ​and​ ​future​ ​leaders​ ​the​ ​importance​ ​of​ ​helping​ ​in​ ​a humanitarian​ ​capacity,​ ​leading​ ​by​ ​example.”
