Virginia landed a pledge on Tuesday night from 6-foot-7 shooting guard Kody Stattman of Australia, according to Scout.com.
“I chose it because it’s a great program and full of great coaches,” said Stattman, who also reportedly considered New Mexico, Missouri, Stanford and others. “Also I wanted to be challenged by going to the ACC and playing the best of the best.”
A pure shooter, Stattman averaged 14.5 points a game at the recent Adidas Nations event and also averaged 31 points for Australia in the FIBA U17 Oceania Championship in July, per Scout.
Stattmann is Virginia’s first 2018 commit.
They also recently hosted 6-4 Hudson (N.J.) Catholic shooting guard Luther Muhammad, who is also considering Ohio State, Xavier, West Virginia and St. John’s.
