Samba Diallo to UMass

By JACOB POLACHECK

Samba Diallo, the 6-foot-7 small forward from Pope John XXIII (NJ) High School and the New York Jayhawks, announced his commitment to UMass on Monday via Twitter.

“He’s a 6-foot-7, long, ultra-athletic wing who is extremely versatile,” New York Jayhawks coach Jay David told ZAGSBLOG on Monday. “He can guard and play multiple positions. I don’t believe he’s scratched the surface yet and will be a pleasant surprise to all UMASS fans.”

Ranked the No. 31 small forward in the Class of 2018 by ESPN.com, Diallo was also consideringĀ Hofstra, VCU, St Joseph’s, and St Bonnie’s. He is the first commit in the Minutemen’s 2018 class.

Although he didn’t take any of his official visits, Diallo visited UMass earlier this year for an unofficial (June 19).
