La La Anthony says it’s a “real possibility” that Carmelo could leave the Knicks.
Anthony, who has a full no-trade clause, is considering waiving the no-trade in order to land either with his buddy LeBron James in Cleveland or his other buddy Chris Paul in Houston, per ESPN. Anthony has two years and $54 million remaining on his contract, plus an $8.1 million trade kicker if he gets dealt.
“That is a real possibility,” she told Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen. “So we’ll see what happens, I’m watching like everybody else. Every day, it’s like a different team. My hope is that he ends up somewhere where he’s happy and he can win, because he’s such an incredible player and he deserves to win.”
There has been a massive shift of talent from the NBA Eastern Conference to the West, most recently including Jimmy Butler getting traded to Minnesota from Chicago and Paul George going to Oklahoma City from Indiana. Should Anthony land in Houston, he would continue that trend.
Meantime, La La also made news by ripping John McEnroe for his comments about Serena Williams.
“Oh, I thought it was bulls**t,” she said. “You don’t come for my friend like that. I didn’t like that at all. I mean, she is the best tennis player in the world, I don’t care male, female, or other, nobody can see Serena Williams.”
Apparently no one told La La about that time in 1998 that Karsten Braasch, ranked 203rd in the world, beat Serena 6-1 and Venus 6-2 in the same day.
