Cole Swider to Villanova

Cole Swider, the 6-foot-7 small forward from St. Andrews (RI) School, committed to Villanova on Friday.

“I will be attending Villanova University,” he said in his school gym.

Swider took his final official visit on Monday (June 26) to Xavier, after previously taking officials to Syracuse (June 18) and Duke (June 23).

According to 247Sports, Swider is ranked as the No. 92 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 1 player from the state of Rhode Island.

Playing with Team BABC on the Nike EYBL Circuit, Swider has averaged 19.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 0.7 assists per game, through 16 games. After finishing with a 10-6 record through the first four sessions, Team BABC will participate in Peach Jam next month.

“Cole is a big wing with an outstanding shooting stroke and legit size at 6-8,” said one Division 1 coach who had been involved in his recruitment. “He plays with a chip on his shoulder and loves to compete.

“If he finds a place where he can impact from Day 1, I see him as a potential pro one day.”

Swider is Villanova’s second 2018 commit following shooting guard Brandon Slater.
