By JACOB POLACHECK

Kevin Knox, the 6-foot-9 freshman small forward from Kentucky, withdrew from consideration for the USA U-19 team Wednesday per Luke Winn. Knox tweaked his hamstring earlier this week during the Team USA trials.

USA Basketball named the finalists for the U-19 team Tuesday. They will compete in the FIBA U19 World Cup in Cairo, Egypt July 1-9. Among the players cut were Desmond Bane, Chaundee Brown, Marques Bolden, Devon Daniels, Malachi Flynn, Charlie Moore, De’Anthony Melton, Shamorie Ponds and Kris Wilkes.

Among the finalists are Bol Bol, Jordan Brown, Hamidou Diallo, Carsen Edwards, Kevin Huerter, Louis King, Romeo Langford, Brandon McCoy, Chuma Okeke, Josh Okogie, Payton Pritchard, Immanuel Quickley, Cameron Reddish, Mitchell Robinson, Quinton Rose, PJ Washington, and Austin Wiley.

Final cuts are expected to be made Thursday ahead of the NBA Draft. Knox’s teammates at Kentucky PJ Washington and Hamidou Diallo are still in the mix.
