Prentiss Hubb, one of top point guards in the Class of 2018, committed to Notre Dame on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-3 Hubb, out of Washington, D.C. Gonzaga High School, also considered Maryland, Villanova and Virginia.
“No. 1, the kid had four really great opportunities,” Gonzaga coach Steve Turner said. “I think he was pretty torn all the way to the end. I think all of them checked all the boxes in a lot of ways. But I just think he felt very comfortable with Coach [Mike Brey] and it’s an opportunity to play in a great conference like the ACC. He has the ability to continue to play in a place that’s very similar academically to Gonzaga.”
He is Notre Dame’s first commit in 2018.
“They’re getting a very versatile player, a guy who’s a floor general, makes other guys around him better but also has the ability as a playmaker for himself to make plays and score the ball.”
Turner said Hubb “is a one,” not a combo guard.
