Jordan Tucker Down to Duke, Syracuse

Jordan Tucker, one of the top remaining uncommitted players in the class of 2017, is down to Duke and Syracuse and expects to announce in the coming few days.

Following Kevin Knox‘s decision to commit to Kentucky last Saturday, Duke was left looking for another wing option. Tucker, out of Marietta (GA) Wheeler, visited the ACC school this week.

“It was good,” Tucker told Scout.com. “[Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski] basically said that he needs someone to come in and score the ball. They don’t have a true wing, a two or three. They have Grayson [Allen] and Gary [Trent] and then someone like me that can shoot the ball at 6-7 or 6-8 and give them some versatility. I could play the two, the three or the four.

“He said I could play a lot, as far as minutes go, but being a starter isn’t a guarantee at all,” Tucker added. “He said everyone has to come in and work for that.”

Duke is also losing point guard Frank Jackson to the NBA Draft, and remains in the mix for 2017 point guard Trevon Duval.

Villanova and Georgia Tech are now out for Tucker, leaving Syracuse as the only other option besides Duke.

“Syracuse is every day,” Lou Tucker, Jordan’s father, recently told ZAGSBLOG. “I hear from Coach [Jim Boeheim], from Allen Griffin, from Gerry McNamara, Red Autry. Everybody is doing a good job recruiting Jordan. They pretty much they did everything they could possibly do.”

Tucker told Scout he was about to pick Syracuse when Duke got involved.

“I was about to narrow it down to just Syracuse,” Tucker told the site. “Then Duke came in and I wasn’t sure at first, but my visit changed my perspective on everything and it made my decision even harder.”
