INDIANAPOLIS — Athletic wing Nahziah Carter is taking his time.
After the former Dayton signee reopened his recruitment when Archie Miller left for Indiana, Carter has relished the second chance to go through the process and keep his options open. He is now in the Class of 2018 although he’s qualified for 2017, City Rocks coach Jim Hart said.
“I’ve gotten way more interest. I feel my game speaks for itself,” Carter said.
St. John’s, Georgetown, N.C. State, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Penn State and UMass have all offered.
Carter will visit Georgetown Saturday-Sunday but cancelled a visit to St. John’s set for Sunday night-Monday.

“He’s 17 years old with unlimited upside,” Hart said.
After scoring 13 points in each of his first two games in Indy, the 6-foot-6 Carter assessed his game.
“I think I’ve been playing fine. I need to make more free throws, I don’t know why I’m missing my free throws,” Carter said after going 2-for-7 at the line in his first two Session 2 games. “Overall, I’m playing fine. I‘ve made some shots but I need to get to the basket more. If I get points at the basket, I can get our team in a rhythm.”
He showed range in Saturday morning’s loss to All Ohio Red, making three 3-pointers while also grabbing six rebounds. He did not attempt a free throw in that game, proving correct his assessment that he needs to get to the basket more.
Carter, who scored 15.8 points per game in Hampton, is keeping reclassification to 2018 and prep school in his back pocket, and is taking his time to make sure he lands at the right school. Reuniting with Miller at Indiana in 2018 may also be an option. In the meantime, he wants to win and work on his game.
“I need to come to more jump stops,” Carter said. “I would say I need to find my teammates a little bit more.”
