Daryl Edwards to LSU

By JACOB POLACHECK

Daryl Edwards, the 6-foot-4 junior college guard from Northwest Florida State (FL) College, signed his letter of intent Wednesday to play at LSU in the fall.

“Daryl is a dynamic scorer who can play both guard spots,” said Northwest Coach Steve DeMeo. “We played a bunch of close games. We would always put the ball in his hands down the stretch and he made a few game winners in his two years with us.”

This past season with Northwest Florida State, Edwards averaged 13.6 points and 3.9 assists per game. “We are excited that Daryl is joining our Tiger program,” LSU head coach Will Wade said in a university release. “He’s a combo guard who has an unlimited range. He’s long and has great length which will serve him well on and off the ball.”

The signing came one week after LSU landed 6-foot-9 power forward Mayan Kiir. Kiir was originally committed to VCU under Wade before he left to take the head-coaching job at LSU. In addition to Kiir, Edwards joins Brandon Rachal and Galen Alexander as the fourth commit in LSU’s 2017 class.
