Arizona freshman Kobi Simmons will declare for the 2017 NBA Draft and not return to the program, the school announced.
The 6-foot-5 Simmons is currently projected at No. 51 by DraftExpress.com.
“Kobi Simmons, with the support of his family, has decided to declare for the 2017 NBA Draft,” said head coach Sean Miller. “All of us here at Arizona thank him for his freshman season and wish him continued success as he pursues his professional career.”
Fellow freshman Lauri Markkanen also declared for the Draft.
Simmons appeared in all 37 games for the Wildcats last season, starting in 19 of them. He averaged 8.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
“I have enjoyed my time at Arizona very much,” said Simmons. “I would like to thank my teammates, coaches and our great fans for their support and effort in making my year truly a special one. Bear Down.”
Simmons is the fifth Pac-12 freshman to declare for the Draft.
