Kentucky, NBA Draft

Kentucky freshmen De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk and Bam Adebayo all plan to huddle with coach John Calipari and their families before making decisions about the NBA Draft.

Monk is projected as the No. 5 pick by DraftExpress.com, while Fox is at No. 6 and Adebayo at No. 30.

“We’re just trying to get over this loss right now, and we’ll talk about it later on in the week,” Monk said following the team’s 75-73 loss to North Carolina in the Elite Eight on Sunday, according to the Herald-Leader.

Fox added: “I’m not thinking about that right now.”

An emotional Fox and Adebayo broke down in the locker room.

NEW YORK — During Roselle Catholic’s drive to the New Jersey Tournament of Champions title in 2015, one of Isaiah Briscoe’s favorite plays was to throw the ball off the backboard for Chris Silva to dunk.

Roselle Catholic coach Dave Boff remembers that Briscoe loved the play so much, they did it in the sectional final that year.

“In the history of New Jersey basketball, I don’t know if anyone has ever completed more off-the-backboard, alley-oop dunks than Chris and Isaiah did that year,” Boff said. “I think they did 10 or 11 that year. They were so comfortable with Isaiah throwing the ball off the backboard to Chris as the trailer, they actually did it in the sectional final in a tie game with two minutes left to go that gave us the lead [against Trenton Catholic]. We were coming back from 22 points down and the basket that gave us the lead which we never gave back was a two-on-one fastbreak where Isaiah threw it off the backboard for Chris for a dunk.”

Archie Miller is the new head coach at Indiana.

Miller, 38, finalized a seven-year deal worth approximately $4 million annually, per Yahoo! Sports.

Miller went 139-63 in six years at Dayton with four straight NCAA Tournament appearances. He is the younger brother of Arizona coach Sean Miller.

In hiring Miller, athletic director Fred Glass went outside the Indiana family and the Bob Knight tree in order to hire a qualified young coach.

“While there was great interest in this position, Archie Miller was on my short list from the very beginning,” Glass said. “The more I learned about him, the more convinced I became that he is the coach we need to meet our high expectations for many years to come. First, he has the commitments to compliance, wellness, and academics that we require at Indiana. A coach’s son with the headiness and toughness to flourish as a 5’9 major college point guard, Archie is a proven leader, proven winner, proven recruiter, and a proven player developer with a defense-first mentality that will help us win championships. Perhaps most importantly, he understands and embraces the special stature of Indiana University basketball and the critical relationship it must have with its former players, Indiana high school players and programs, and the entire State of Indiana.”
