Just as North Carolina was starting to improve on the injury front with the recent returns of Isaiah Hicks and Theo Pinson, another Tar Heel is down.
Sophomore guard Kenny Williams will undergo right knee surgery and is likely out for the season, according to head coach Roy Williams following No. 10 UNC’s 97-73 thrashing of North Carolina State on Wednesday.

Williams, a 34 percent three-point shooter who is averaging 6.2 points and 2.2 assists per game this year, suffered the injury during Tuesday’s practice. He has filled in admirably at times this season for Pinson, even starting 22 games.
“He’ll have surgery early next week and he’s probably done for the season,” Roy Williams announced. “He hurt his knee. It’s a crazy thing–not an ACL or anything like that. But when you look at 4-6 weeks at this point in the year, it’s basically the end of the season.”
The Tar Heels are 21-6 overall and are currently sitting in first place in the ACC with a 10-3 league record.
