Through 24 games Egbunu was averaging 7.8 points per game while leading the team in rebounds with 6.6 per contest. He also added 1.5 blocks per for the No. 15 ranked Gators.
At the time of injury, Egbunu ranked in the top 10 of the SEC for both rebounds and blocked shots.
The junior big man will have to miss out on the rest of the hot season Florida is having. First in the SEC, the Gators (21-5, 11-2) have won seven straight games, including a victory over then-ranked No. 8 Kentucky.
Continuing their streak without the teams leading rebounder however will be tested right away.
Florida will take on Mississippi State Feb. 18 on the road. The Gators will then take on back-to-back ranked opponents on Feb. 21 and 25, with South Carolina and Kentucky, respectively.
