Michael Porter Jr. Thinks Trae Young Will Land at Oklahoma or Kansas

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Trae Young and Michael Porter Jr. led MoKan Elite to the Peach Jam championship last July.

Now Porter Jr. has an idea on where his AAU teammate will land for college.

“He hasn’t told me anything, I don’t even think he knows but I’m thinking Oklahoma or Kansas,” the 6-foot-10 Washington-bound Porter Jr. said last weekend at the Hoophall Classic, where he was the unofficial Most Outstanding Player.

“I think Oklahoma is best for him because he’ll be able to shine.”

The 6-2 Young plays for Norman (OK) North and has been considering Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Kentucky.

Kentucky already has three guards, including two point guards in Quade Green and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander signed, so Porter Jr. doesn’t see Young landing there.

“I talk to him about every day and I doubt it’s Kentucky now because they got what, five five-stars?” he said. “I don’t think it’s Kentucky. He’s not going there, I don’t think if you just look at it reasonably. I don’t think he really considered Washington as much after Blake [Harris] committed. Quade is going to Kentucky so I doubt he’ll go there so, honestly.”
