Michael Okauru, the 6-foot-3 point guard from Brewster (NH) Academy, announced his commitment to Florida on Thursday, following his official visit to Gainesville earlier this week (Dec. 20).

“It’s a winning culture there and I just felt it was the best fit,” said Okauru. “I will be a point guard playing in an up-tempo type offense,”
Okauru joins Chase Johnson, Isaiah Stokes, and DeAundrae Ballard as the fourth commit in Florida’s 2017 class.
“Michael is a long, athletic lead guard who has a very high ceiling,” said Brewster head coach Jason Smith. “He possesses SEC level athleticism and ability to be a high level defender. He has great speed and quickness
Another Brewster Academy guard announced his college decision Thursday as Curtis Haywood II committed to Georgia Tech.

“Curtis is a guard who had a tremendous fall and has continued to shoot the ball well early in our season,” said Smith. “He has great length (6-11 wingspan) and has potential to be an excellent defender,”
Haywood, a 6-4, 180-pound shooting guard joins Christ the King point guard Jose Alvarado as the second commit in Georgia Tech’s 2017 class. He was looking to do visits at Georgia and Kansas before deciding on Georgia Tech.
