Kentucky made a bold move last month when it hosted several top recruits at Madison Square Garden for the Champions Classic.
Among those recruits was Neumann-Goretti (PA) point guard Quade Green, who decided that same week to sign with Kentucky over Syracuse.
With a slew of big-time games coming to New York this week, more schools will host recruits at events.
On Monday, UConn is slated to host Class of 2018 stars Moses Brown and Khalid Moore of Archbishop Molloy, 2018 wing Louis King of Hudson Catholic, 2018 point guard Jalen Carey of Immaculate Conception, 2018 guard Matt Cotton of St. Benedict’s Prep and 2019 point guard Bryce Wills of Iona Prep and 2019 point guard Cole Anthony of Molloy. Here’s the 7-foot-1 Brown doing his thing for Molloy:
UConn, which meets Syracuse at 7 p.m. Monday, also scouted 2017 shooting guard Hamidou Diallo on Sunday in Pottstown, Pa., as did Kentucky, Harvard and other schools.
On Tuesday, when Duke plays Florida in the Jimmy V Classic at MSG, the two teams will host another crop of young metropolitan area stars, including 2019 stars Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis of the Ranney (N.J.) School, along with their teammate Alex Klatsky. Class of 2020 point guard Louis Farrakhan of St. Benedict’s and Class of 2021 small forward Trey Patterson of Rutgers Prep are also expected.
On Saturday, Jalen Carey, the 6-3 sophomore point guard from Montclair (N.J.) Immaculate Conception, will attend Saturday’s Notre Dame-Villanova game at Prudential Center. Both schools are among those recruiting him.
On Sunday, Louis King, the 6-8 small forward from Hudson (N.J.) Catholic, will attend the Hofstra-Kentucky game at Barclays Center. King also attended the Kentucky-Michigan State game last month at the Garden. Wildcats’ assistant Joel Justus scouted him earlier this fall, but Kentucky has yet to offer. Maryland, Arizona, UConn, Indiana and Seton Hall are among the other schools involved.
This list will be updated as needed going forward.
