If Brooklyn native Taj Gibson gets his wish, the world champion Chicago Cubs won’t be the only ones getting an ovation in the Windy City on Friday.

Gibson believes Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah should get such a reception when they return to Chicago with the Knicks (8 p.m. ESPN).

“The crowd should give them a good standing ovation,” Gibson told the Chicago Tribune. “They gave Chicago a lot of blood, sweat and tears.”

This will be the only appearance for Rose, the former No. 1 overall pick of the Bulls, in Chicago this year, while the Bulls come to Madison Square Garden twice.

With Jeremy Lin expected to miss two weeks with a left hamstring strain, Sean Kilpatrick and Isaiah Whitehead figure to get more time at the point for the Nets, who host Charlotte Friday night.

Backup point guard Greivis Vasquez remains out with an ankle injury, while Randy Foye returns from a hamstring injury.

Kilpatrick, a Yonkers, N.Y., native, who played college ball at Cincinnati, is averaging 16.6 points and 1.6 assists for Brooklyn (2-3). He went for 24 points and 10 rebounds in Wednesday’s win over Detroit.

“As soon as Jeremy went out, I was like, ‘I’m going to have to play the point’ because that was something I did throughout summer league,” Kilpatrick told the New York Post.

**Lonnie Walker, the 6-5, 206-pound shooting guard from Reading (PA) High School, will take his fourth official visit to Kentucky this weekend (Nov. 5). In past years, the Metro Classic at Kean University in New Jersey has featured future NBA players Karl-Anthony Towns, Ben Simmons and Wade Baldwin.

This season’s event — slated for Feb. 10-11 back at Kean — will once again be loaded, with national powers Montverde Academy (FL) and Oak Hill Academy (VA) joining New Jersey powers St. Benedict’s, St. Anthony’s, Roselle Catholic and Hudson Catholic, among others.

Arizona’s Ray Smith Calls It a Career After Third ACL Tear

Arizona redshirt freshman wing Ray Smith announced he has ended his basketball career after suffering a third ACL on Tuesday during an exhibition game.

The 6-foot-8 Smith missed all of last season with a medical redshirt due to an ACL tear. He was projected as the No. 26 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com.

Smith said in his tweet that “sometimes in life all you can do is the best that you can do,” and that the “6-8 long athletic wing who can play multiple positions is out.”
