Bourama Sidibe is slated to take an official visit to Syracuse the weekend of Nov. 11, but associate head coach Mike Hopkins is getting a head start.
Hopkins visited the 6-foot-10 Sidibe on Thursday at St. Benedict’s Prep, the school that produced former Syracuse point guard Tyler Ennis, now with the Houston Rockets.
“They love me,” Sidibe said of Syracuse.
“Mike Hopkins absolutely loves him. He said Bourama is a cross between Jerami Grant and Tyler Roberson,” St. Benedict’s coach Mark Taylor said of two Syracuse forwards. “Bourama in many ways is better, he is longer and has a better shot. When he fills out, look out.”
Assistant coaches from Oklahoma State, Georgetown and Seton Hall also were in to see Sidibe this week. He has taken officials to Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.
“They care about their basketball team,” Sidibe said of Oklahoma State, which he saw last weekend. “Everyone has the freedom to dribble and shoot. They share the ball a lot.”
Sidibe is undecided on whether he will sign early or late. The early signing period runs Nov. 9-16.
Meantime, Syracuse assistant Adrian Autry is also expected in at The Patrick School on Friday for 6-11 center Nick Richards, who will announce his college choice on Nov. 10 at his school. Richards is considering Kentucky, Syracuse and Arizona.
