An Indianapolis native who transferred before the season to Prolific Prep, Scruggs joins shooting guards Naji Marshall and Elias Harden, small forward Jared Ridder and center Kentrevious Jones in Chris Mack’s 2017 class that is now ranked No. 5 nationally by Scout.com.
“Paul has had the chance to continue his growth at the point guard position over the last few years and also this year at Prolific Prep, where he’s getting the academic and basketball focus he needed before entering college,” ” said Mike Peterson, Scruggs’ AAU coach. “Xavier looks to play Paul at the point guard position at the next level where he can strive and try to become one of best players in the world and play professionally. It’s a great school for academic focus and basketball.”
Scruggs is one of two Prolific Prep players to commit on Friday, along with forward Abu Kigab to Oregon.
