Allen, who also considered Ohio State, Saint Louis and Nebraska, opted to stay at home in North Carolina to play for head coach Mark Gottfried.
He is N.C. State’s first Class of 2017 commit.
“He just always wanted to play in the ACC,” Brewster coach Jason Smith told Scout.com. “Being close to home was important to him, and I think he and his family felt that the opportunity to play at NC State for coaches he trusted in a system he can excel in was too much to pass up.”
“He has been tremendous since he got here,” added Smith of Allen. “I know some will question him because of his size, but his ability to shoot the basketball is special. I expect him to do great things for us as a player, and then continuing at NC State.”
