Terrell Brown, a 6-foot-10 stretch forward from the BABC AAU program and the Barrington (RI) St. Andrews School, verbally committed to Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Brown joins 6-2 point guard Aaron Thompson of Paul VI (MD) in new coach Kevin Stalling’s Class of 2017 recruiting class.

“Terrell has the unique combination of being able to score in the low post and also be a legitimate threat from the three-point line,” BABC director Leo Papile told SNY.tv. “He has a ‘pro body’ and having just turned 18, he has room to grow in that area as well. I really enjoyed watching him mature over his four years with us at BABC. Pitt has a guy with unlimited potential.”

NEW YORK –– Here we go into the second week of the US Open and the only Americans remaining in the singles draws are named Williams.

That’s right, 36-year-old Venus Williams and soon-to-be-35-year-old Serena Williams — both of whom are set to play their fourth-round matches on Monday afternoon in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

This became reality on Sunday afternoon when Madison Keys, a big-hitting 21-year old from Boca Raton, Fla., seeded No. 8, bowed out of the women’s draw at the hands of Caroline Wozniacki, 6-3, 6-4, on a perfect sunny afternoon for tennis in Ashe. That was followed shortly thereafter by Nebraska nativeĀ  Jack Sock losing to Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 6-3, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2, on Louis Armstrong Stadium.

The Class of 2017 point guard race just got a little more interesting.

Matt Coleman, the 6-foot-2 floor general from Oak Hill Academy (VA), announced offers from Duke and Kansas on Saturday.

“Matt is the consummate pass-first point guard,” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said. “He’s always looking to facilitate and create for his teammates. Matt has great court vision and is a guy his teammates love with play with and for.”

Coleman won a gold medal on the USA U18 coached by Shaka Smart team this summer. That team also featured fellow point guards Trae Young and Quade Green.

Duke is involed for Green, as are Kentucky, Syracuse and others, while Kansas is among those recruiting Young, along with Kentucky, Oklahoma and others.

Greg Calixte, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound big man from famed Mount Vernon (N.Y.) High School and the NY Rens AAU program, visited Temple unofficially on Thursday and has more trips planned.

“Temple was great. Their message was they watched me briefly [this summer] and they’d like the opportunity to watch me more in workouts and open gym,” Calixte said.

No offer was made and Temple may come back to see him during an open gym later this month. Calixte holds offers from DePaul, La Salle, Hostra and Iona, among others.

Calixte, who played AAU ball this summer with high-major prospects Hamidou Diallo, Jordan Tucker, Jordan Nwora and Jose Alvarado, has officials slated for Quinnipiac (Sept. 23) and DePaul (Sept. 30).
