Recruiting Roundup: Sid Wilson, Alex Reese, Scottie Lewis & Bryan Antoine, David McCormack, Jose Alvarado

Sid Wilson, a New York small forward who recently reclassed to 2018, took an unofficial visit to Texas this week.

“I enjoyed the campus and how well not only the basketball players are treated but all athletes on campus,” he said. “I enjoyed the great facilities they have at Texas and the access to get better throughout the day. They showed me everything from the nutrition center to the academic advisors and they are great people.

“Their message to me is that they have everything but a wing player. They also like how versatile I am and they feel like I am a high priority for them. They haven’t won a national title yet and with me they think that is possible.”

The 6-foot-7 Wilson, who will transfer to Brewster (N.H.) Academy beginning Sept. 10, holds offers from Louisville, Texas, Seton Hall, USC, UNLV, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Indiana and Minnesota, among others.

He may soon take unofficials to Seton Hall and UConn.

ALEX REESE TALKS ASU, UPCOMING VISITS

Alex Reese, a four-star power forward from the Class of 2017 who recently cut his list to five, says he plans to take an official visit to Alabama on Oct. 1 and is working on planning visits to UAB and Georgia.

Earlier this week, Reese took an unofficial visit to Arizona State. He had this to say about the visit: “It went well. I thought it was really nice and I enjoyed my time out there, meeting the coaches.”

Reese also mentioned that he would like to commit sooner rather than later, saying, “Hopefully, I’ll commit in the fall sometime, after I take all my visits.”

This summer, Reese played on the Adidas Gauntlet with Team Carroll 17U. He averaged 12.3 points per game, along with 5.3 rebounds per game.

LEWIS, ANTOINE VISIT RUTGERS

After visiting St. John’s last week, Class of 2019 stars Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine of Team Rio and the Ranney (N.J.) School hit Rutgers on Tuesday.

“They are trying to keep the talent-rich state of New Jersey kids at home,” Brian Klatsky of Team Rio told SNY.tv. “The way [Lewis and Antoine] are building Ranney, they can do the same thing at Rutgers.”

They will visit Seton Hall, Colgate and UConn in August and will then trip to Florida (Sept. 10) and Duke (TBD).

Meantime, Lewis will participate in the Under Armour Elite 24 Slam Dunk Contest on Aug. 20 in Brooklyn, while Antoine will shoot in the 3-point Contest.

DAVID McCORMACK PLANNING VISITS

David McCormack, a 6-foot-10, 280-pound Class of 2018 center from Norfolk (VA) Academy, will visit South Carolina, N.C. State and Georgia Tech this weekend.

JOSE ALVARADO VISITS SETON HALL

Jose Alvarado, a 6-foot Class of 2017 point guard from Christ the King, visited Seton Hall on Tuesday following a trip to Rutgers on Saturday. He takes an official to Georgia Tech Aug. 19-21.
