Iona Lands 2017 Point Guard C.J. Seaforth

Iona landed a commitment on Monday from C.J. Seaforth, a 6-foot, 160-pound lead guard from Hamden (CT) High School, as first reported by SNY.tv.

Seaforth is Iona’s second Class of 2017 commit, following his 6-10 teammate Isaiah Hicks of the USAD AAU program, who committed July 22.

He also considered Robert Morris, Fairfield and Quinnipiac.

“Iona is the best fit for me academically and the coaching stuff Is awesome,” he said. “I love the fast tempo that they play.”

Seaforth averaged 21.5 points last season at Hamden.

“He’s a competitive, highly skilled shot maker who will flourish in the Iona system,” USAD coach Troy Bradford said. “He’s also a great passer and a very good on ball defender with his long arms. He’ll be a  perfect fit for Iona’s style of play.”

Seaforth is the fourth player from the USAD program to commit in the last three years, following rising sophomore guard Schadrac Casimir, incoming freshman E.J. Crawford and Hicks.
