North Carolina Lands Class of 2018 Point Guard Coby White

Coby White, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard from the Class of 2018 committed to North Carolina via Twitter on Thursday night.

“They have a great family atmosphere and it is close to my family.” said White. “My parents really loved Coach [Roy] Williams after talking to him multiple times. We sat and talked. Then, I did some thinking on my own and I decided it was the best place for me.”

White, who joins four-star point guard Rechon Black of Montverde (FL) Academy in UNC’s 2018 recruiting class, took an unofficial visit to UNC last month.

“I’m excited to play in the Dean Dome, for a great coaching staff in a great atmosphere with great teammates.” he said.

The No. 5 ranked player in the state of North Carolina, according to 247Sports, White held offers from schools such as Clemson, Tennessee, Wake Forest, among others.

“Coby is absolutely electric,” his CP3 coach Andy Poplin told SNY.tv. “He is one of the fastest players with the ball you will ever see. End to end he is exciting to watch and fun to coach. He has unlimited upside.”

North Carolina also has two 2017 commits in point guard Jalek Felton and shooting guard Andrew Platek.
