CELEBRATION, Fla. –– Chaundee Brown has made a statement over the past two weeks.
Brown has recently picked up offers from Kansas and Indiana, with many other schools tracking the shooting guard from The First Academy (Fla.).
“I feel like I proved a point at Peach Jam,” Brown told SNY.tv. “I averaged 22 (points) and 6 (assists), I feel like it went pretty well, and I feel like I proved I belonged in the top 20 in the country.”
As for the Jayhawks, the 6-foot-4 Brown has been told that if he decided to go to Lawrence, he would have a place in the rotation right away.
“They’re saying that I could step in and play because Frank Mason is leaving,” Brown said. “I don’t want to go and redshirt somewhere or sit or anything like that, I want to play right away.”
With Tom Crean having watched Nike South Beach multiple times, Brown says that the Indiana head man was most impressed by his motor.
“This was the first time that he had ever seen me play,” Brown said. “He sat and watched four or five of my games at Peach Jam. He said he liked my game and that he had heard about my work ethic, heard that I work hard.”
Currently ranked No. 33 in the nation by 247 Sports, Brown says the main goal will be making the McDonald’s All American Game.
“Right now, I’m just trying to work hard,” Brown said. “I want to be a better leader and get to the top 20 range, and get into the McDonald’s All American area.”
Brown currently holds offers from Indiana, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Xavier, Maryland, Memphis, Central Florida, Texas Tech, LSU, Florida, Wake Forest, Southern California, Georgia and UConn.
