N.C. State on Monday announced the signing of Markell Johnson, the No. 10-ranked point guard in the Class of 2016 according to 247Sports.com.
The 6-1 guard from Cleveland, Ohio, averaged more than 30 points and seven rebounds per game for East Tech last season en route to earning Cleveland.com’s Boys Basketball Player of the Year award.
“He’s an explosive combo guard who is extremely athletic and can play multiple positions for us,” said NC State head coach Mark Gottfried. “He’s a great addition to our backcourt and we look forward to Markell joining our program.”
Johnson joins the talented incoming recruiting class of five-star guard Dennis Smith Jr., five-star Turkish center Omer Yurtseven, and Darius Hicks. The Wolfpack also hosted 6-8 power forward Ted Kapita, who has decommitted from SMU.
