“Daniel is a big strong high-energy frontcourt player,” said Steve Smith, Giddens’ high school coach at Oak Hill (Va.). “He’s a great rebounder who can guard 4 and 5 men. He scores inside with either hand and can step out to 15 feet.”

The 6-foot-10 Giddens reportedly wanted to move closer to his home in Mableton, Ga.

He played in all but two of Ohio State’s 35 games last season as a true freshman. He averaging 3.8 points and 3.6 rebounds with seven starts.

Giddens will have to sit out next season and will have three years of eligiblity left starting with the 2017-18 season.
