Florida Lands Charleston Transfer Canyon Barry

Canyon Barry, a 6-foot-6 guard who is the son of the legendardy Rick Barry, will transfer to Florida from Charleston and be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer, he confirmed to SNY.tv.

He also considered Miami and Northwestern.

The Colorado native averaged 19.7 points and 3.4 rebounds last season.

“Florida was a great fit for me both academically and athletically,” he told SNY.tv. “I look forward to playing for Coach [Mike] White and hopefully helping get the Gators back to the NCAA Tournament.”

He added: “I will try to boost scoring with my outside shooting and help from the foul line.”

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman first reported the transfer.
