Bruce Pays Tribute to Prince With ‘Purple Rain’

Bruce Springsteen opened Saturday night’s show at Barclays Center by paying tribute to Prince with a stirring rendition of “Purple Rain.”

He told the audience “Whenever I saw Prince, I left the show humbled,” and ended the show by saying “Prince Forever. God bless.”

Unfortunately for the music world, Springsteen has had to perform several tributes this year in honor of fallen music legends.

In January, he covered “Take It Easy” in honor of Glenn Frey.

And in February Bruce did “Rebel Rebel” in honor of David Bowie.

No word on a Merle Haggard tribute, but here’s hoping Bruce doesn’t have to honor any more fallen music legends in 2016.
