Twelve Things That Have Happened Since Rutgers’ Last Big Ten Win

Rutgers lost at Minnesota, 83-61, on Tuesday night, dropping the Scarlet Knights to 6-22 overall, 0-15 in the Big Ten.

Coach Eddie Jordan’s team hasn’t won a Big Ten game since a Jan. 11 win over Wisconsin. That’s Jan. 11, 2015.

Including the Big Ten Tournament, Rutgers has dropped 30 straight conference games.

Here are 12 things that have happened in the world since Rutgers’ last Big Ten win:

 

1. Two Super Bowls were played

The New England Patriots (2015) and the Denver Broncos (2016) both won NFL championships.

2. The Golden State Warriors won 104 games

Steph Curry and company won 38 regular-season games after Jan. 11, 2015, 16 playoff games en route to the NBA championship and another 50 games this season.

3. Novak Djokovic won 4 Majors

The world’s best tennis player won two Australian Opens (2015 and ’16) as well as Wimbledon and the US Open in 2015.

4. Rutgers fires one football coach, hires another

On Nov. 29, 2015, Rutgers fired former coach Kyle Flood. On Dec. 7, the school hired new coach Chris Ash.

5. Rutgers fires one AD, hires another

Julie Hermann was ousted the same day Flood was (Nov. 29), while her replacement, former Seton Hall AD Pat Hobbs, took over that same day.

6. Rutgers women’s soccer reaches Final Four

The school’s women’s soccer team advanced to the NCAA semifinals, losing to eventual champ Penn State.

7. St. Anthony’s loses one game

Under Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley, St. Anthony’s fell to Roselle Catholic in the Non-Public North B final on March 14. Since then, the Friars (24-0) are undefeated this season.

8. Chris Stapleton cleans up

The Kentucky native won 3 Country Music Awards and 2 Grammys.

9. 12 Republican candidates have withdrawn

A dozen Republican Presidential candidates have withdrawn from the race, including some you may remember (Chris Christie, Jeb Bush) and some you may not (Scott Walker, Rick Santorum).

10. One Supreme Court Justice died

When Rutgers last won a Big Ten game, the Supreme Court had a full complement of nine members. Today, after the passing of Antonin Scalia, it has eight.

11. Price of gas drops 32 cents

The average price of a gallon of regular gas nationally fell from $2.03 in January 2015 to $1.71 right now.

12. One Star Wars movie came out

“The Force Awakens” opened Dec. 18, 2015, with Episode VIII set for release Dec. 15, 2017.
