Kentucky star and Jersey native Isaiah Briscoe OK after X-rays return negative

Isaiah Briscoe is OK after X-rays on his left ankle were negative, his father told SNY.tv on Sunday. “Definitely negative, so we’re happy about that,” George Briscoe said. “He’s doing fine, the doctor called us and said he’s fine. He said he’s gotta stay off of it for a couple days. It’s swollen but just stay off of it for a couple of days.”

Briscoe injured the ankle during warmups.

“Definitely negative, so we’re happy about that,” George Briscoe said. “He’s doing fine, the doctor called us and said he’s fine. He said he’s gotta stay off of it for a couple days. It’s swollen but just stay off of it for a couple of days.”

After beating Louisville 75-73 without Briscoe on Saturday at Rupp Arena, the Wildcats don’t play again until Jan. 2 against Ole Miss.

“He’ll be good,” George Briscoe said of his son.

“He’s a fighter,” Kentucky coach John Calipari told reporters. “Now what he’ll do is he’ll come back and kill people next week if his ankle is healthy. Because that’s how he is.”

Junior guard Dominique Hawkins replaced Briscoe off the bench and hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points.

“Crazy thing is, maybe we shouldn’t start Isaiah,” Calipari said. “That’s why you don’t get hurt. Maybe he should be the third guard. I hope he didn’t get Wally Pipped – decide to take a day off and all of a sudden …”

Briscoe is currently projected as the No. 22 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com.
