Hofstra surprises Florida State 82-77 in Paradise Jam

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) — Brian Bernardi scored a career-high 24 points and Hofstra made 10 of 22 3-pointers to shock Florida State 82-77 in the Paradise Jam tournament on Friday.

Juan’ya Green added 17 points, Denton Koon had 15 and Ameen Tanksley 14 for the Pride (3-0).

Bernardi made 8 of 10 shots, including six of eight 3-pointers. He had 19 points at halftime as Hofstra led 41-35.

Rokas Gustys had 11 rebounds as Hofstra outrebounded Florida State 39-36.

The Pride went 18 of 24 at the foul line, all in the second half. They were eight for 10 in the last 2:22.

Malik Beasley led the Seminoles (2-1) with 25 points, 18 in the second half. He was four of five behind the arc after intermission, but FSU finished 6 of 25 on 3s after going 0 for 10 in the first half.

Florida State averaged 103.5 points in its first two wins.
