Trey Lewis: Rick Pitino Will Be at Louisville a ‘Long Time’

635816305223540693-lewis-acc-media-dayAs we addressed in this earlier column, Rick Pitino wasn’t at ACC Media Day on Wednesday on the advice of his lawyers.

That left graduate transfers Damion Lee and Trey Lewis to speak for Louisville amid the sex scandal.

Since both players just arrived at the school this year, there was only so much they could say, and that was precisely why Louisville sent them.

Asked about Pitino’s future at the school, Lewis said the coach had told the players he isn’t going anywhere, something Pitino himself wrote on his Website last week.

“Coach has come in very confident, saying that he’s going to be here for a long time,” Lewis said, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal. “I have no worries about that. None of the players have worries about that.”

The players also played down the perception that they had been hung out to dry by Pitino’s decision not to attend Media Day.

“We understand why he’s not here,” Lewis said. “He’s been advised not to come and speak on these matters. That’s the only reason he’s not here. He would love to speak on things but can’t.”
