Kevin Marfo to George Washington

2015 NIKE EYBL. SESSION 4. Minneapolis, MN.

Kevin Marfo, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound power forward from Worcester (Mass.) Academy, committed to George Washington on Friday

A native of Bergenfield, N.J., who is ranked the No. 37 power forward in the Class of 2016, Marfo also considered Boston College and Providence.

“[GW has a] winning culture and mature team,” he said before the announcement. “They are looking to erupt in the Atlantic 10.”

Marfo joins 5-3 point guard Darnell Rogers and 6-8 power forward Collin Smith in coach Mike Longergan’s 2016 class. Rogers, the son of former GW standout Shawnta Rogers, committed earlier this week.

“My dad is an alum, and I have a family relationship with the coaching staff,” Darnell Rogers told ESPN. “Their starting point guard is leaving when I come in. It’s a great situation for me and I also love D.C.”

Marfo averaged 11.3 points and 8.8 rebounds in 21 games this year with BABC on the Nike EYBL circuit.

“I will bring rebounding, toughness and interior scoring,” he said.

Said BABC director Leo Papile: “He really competes day in and day out. He can be a double-figure rebounder in a Power 5 conference.”
