Kobi Simmons UAMaryland, UNLV, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Xavier and Arizona are among the schools who will host some priority recruits on this first weekend of September.

Here’s an overview of those visits and others. Check back as this list will be updated over the weekend.

**Maryland will continue its recent run of high-profile recruiting visits by hosting Kevin Huerter for an official this weekend. The 6-foot-6 Huerter is coming off a visit to Villanova that went well. His AAU coach, Jim Hart, said the point guard plans to take all five officials before making a decision. Meantime, 6-10 Wenyen Gabriel pushed his official to Maryland to next weekend. he is also considering Kentucky, Duke, UConn and Providence and will have school visits with all five at Wilbraham & Monson. Duke, Providence and Maryland come in Sept. 9, with Kentucky and UConn in on Sept. 10. He also has officials set for Kentucky (Sept. 25-27) and Duke (Oct. 16-18).

mbb033115Junior college star Bashir Ahmed has four official visits set.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pound combo guard from The Bronx will trip to Rutgers (Sept. 12), Cincinnati (Sept. 19), St. John’s (Sept. 26) and Louisville (late Sept.)

Ahmed took unofficials to both Rutgers and St. John’s back in May.

“I know I’m going to take my time and make the right decision and choose the right school,” he said then.

Tony Bradley, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Bartow (FL), has committed to North Carolina.

4_2970879Bradley is ranked the No. 7 power forward in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports.com.

He also considered Kansas, Alabama, Florida State and USF, among others.

“He is a great big man who plays with his back to the basket and is a high IQ kid,” E1T1 coach Steve Reese told SNY.tv. “He works his butt off, he just works his butt off. He’s a great character kid as well.”

Hard.

Williams worked on her serve for a good 35 minutes with her coach Patrick Mouratoglou following her 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over qualifier Kiki Bertens in the second round of the US Open.

The win left Williams five matches shy of becoming the first woman to win the Grand Slam since Steffi Graf in 1988, something Williams is doing everything in her power to accomplish.

But perfectionist that she is, Williams wasn’t at all happy about the performance, which she described as “tight.”

4_3600246Taurean Thompson, a 6-foot-9 power forward now at Brewster (N.H.) Academy, took an unofficial visit to Rutgers on Wednesday and will visit Xavier and Syracuse in the coming weeks, his mother told SNY.tv.

Thompson, who just transferred from St. Anthony High School in Jersey City where he played for Naismith Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley, had been to Rutgers before and added another visit on Wednesday.

He will then take an official visit to Xavier this weekend. Thompson will also visit Syracuse on the third or fourth weekend of September after picking up a scholarship offer from the Orange, his mother said.

Thompson also recently visited Maryland, as first reported here.

Thompson has battled injuries throughout his high school and AAU career but is a talented big man with a high ceiling. He is currently coming off a broken rib suffered during the second half of the AAU season with the NJ Playaz.

4_3726115Kevin Huerter, a 6-foot-6 2016 point guard from Clifton Park (N.Y.) Shenendehowa, enjoyed his official visit to Villanova this week but still plans on taking all five of his official visits before deciding.

Huerter is set to visit Maryland (Sept. 4-6), Michigan (Sept. 12-14) and Notre Dame Sept. (24-26), and is also considering Iowa, Indiana, Creighton and Davidson.

“They loved it, loved everything about it,” Albany City Rocks coach Jim Hart said of Huerter’s family trip to Villanova. “[The staff] couldn’t have laid it out any better. He’s going to take the four remaining visits, go home and then make the decision. They’re not the type of family that’s going to pull the trigger on campus.”
