Harry Giles Says College Decision Will Be ‘Tough’

GilesFollowing the first of his five scheduled official visits, Harry Giles says his impending college decision will be “tough.”

“I had a great visit to Wake Forest last weekend!” the 6-foot-10 Giles, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, wrote in his USA Today blog.

“I’m going to Kansas for Late Night in the Phog. After that I’m going to Kentucky for Big Blue Madness, North Carolina and I’ll end up at Duke for Halloween weekend!

“I can’t wait! I know all of the visits are gonna be crazy!

“…Coach (Roy) Williams and Coach (Bill) Self came by last week and I had great meetings with both of them. Coach Self is just a cool guy and Coach Williams is cool too. I have great relationships with both of them. Of course Coach (Danny) Manning is my guy too and Coach (John) Calipari was in last week and we had a great talk. It was definitely the best talk that I’ve ever had with Coach Cal. It was just me and him and no one else.

“I know I’ve told you guys this before but this is gonna be a tough.”

Giles will next visit Kansas Oct. 10 in the first of four straight officials though the month of October.

Oak Hill coach Steve Smith recently told The 4 Quarters Podcast that Duke isn’t necessarily a lock despite public perception to the contrary.

“People think Duke is the leader, but I think from sitting in on parts of all of the visits, he told all the coaches he’s not sure when he’s going to sign and he’s told everybody that he’s wide open still,” Smith said. “So he keeps it pretty close to the vest and he doesn’t say much.

“I know they all want him to go early and I think he’s probably leaning to doing that but he could even extend it. Who knows?”
