Bobby Hurley Has ‘Great’ Visit With Thon Maker, Then Sees JUCO Forward Emmanuel Malou (UPDATED)

ThonThon Maker hosted Arizona State head coach Bobby Hurley and assistant Brian Merritt on Friday for a home visit.

And that visit sounds like it went real well.

“Great home visit with coach Hurley and @mreverything211,” Maker Tweeted.

Since getting the ASU job, Hurley has made the 7-foot Maker a top priority, and at this point the Sun Devils appear to be in the driver’s seat for a player projected as a first-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

“ASU was great,” Ed Smith, Maker’s guardian, said on Saturday. “Coach Hurley and Coach Merrit visited. Coach Hurley shared his experience as a player in high school, college and the NBA and as a coach. He also spoke about the community at Arizona State and the impact Thon would have. It would be the same as Ben Simmons going to LSU they felt.”

Indiana and Notre Dame are also involved for Maker, who will spend all of this year at Orangeville Prep in Ontario before heading to college in 2016.

Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey is next up with a home visit on Monday.

“He was just showing me that I could fit in a be a factor next year at ASU,” Malou told SNY.tv.
“I like the location, the opportunity of education they have, the facility, the fact that they have Coach Hurley. That’s a big bonus.”
