Recruiting Roundup: Weekend Road Trips

Road TripFollowing a busy week in which college coaches criss-crossed the country to visit with their priority recruits, many of of those recruits will hit the road for official visits.

Here’s a rundown that will be updated over the weekend. For more detail on any player, click the embedded link near their name:

**Following home and school visits this week with St. John’s, Creighton, Providence and Minnesota, Brooklyn Thomas Jefferson guard Shamorie Ponds begins his official visit to Providence on Friday.

 

**Bryce Aiken, a 5-11 point guard from Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick’s, is on Harvard’s campus ahead of officials to Seton Hall, Miami, USC and Michigan.

 

**Following home and school visits this week with Kentucky, UConn, Maryland, Duke and Providence, 6-10 Wilbraham & Monson forward Wenyen Gabriel is on an official to Maryland, which is coming off the verbal pledge of point guard Kevin Huerter this past week. **Kobi Simmons of Alpharetta (GA) Saint Francis visits Ohio State following trips to Kentucky and UNLV. His father said he will pull the trigger between those schools and Georgia sometime after this trip.

 

**Thon Maker, the 7-footer from Orangeville Prep (Ontario), won’t take an official this weekend but he will host Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley on a home visit before meeting Monday with Notre Dame head man Mike Brey.

 

**Point guard Seventh Woods of the Columbia (S.C.) Hammond School, takes his official to Georgetown this weekend after cutting his list to the Hoyas, North Carolina and South Carolina.

 

**After decommitting from Memphis on Thursday, 6-6 wing guard Ar’mond Davis of the College of Southern Idaho will take an official to Texas A&M. He still has visits to Alabama and LSU planned, while he says he’s still considering Memphis, too.

 

**De’Riante Jenkins, a 6-5 small forward from Hargrave Military School (VA), visits Tennessee following a trip to VCU last weekend. He also visits Rutgers and Clemson in future weeks.

 

**Following an official visit to Arizona last weekend, 6-4 combo guard Andrew Jones of Katy (TX) MacArthur visits Texas this weekend.

 

**Javin DeLaurier, a 6-9 power forward from rom Charlottesville (Va.) St. Anne’s-Belfield, also visits Texas after hitting Notre Dame last weekend. HE will also see Princeton and Stanford.

 

**Bashir Ahmed, a 6-6 wing from Hutchinson (KS) Community College, postponed his visit to Rutgers this weekend ahead of officials to Cincinnati, St. John’s and Louisville.

 

**Following a visit last weekend to Georgetown, Curtis Jones, a 6-4 guard from Huntington (W.V.) Prep, visits Oklahoma State.

 

**Dylan Painter, a 6-10 forward from Hershey (PA) High, trips to Penn State this weekend following a recent trip to Villanova. Xavier is also in the mix.

 

**Penn State also hosts 6-6 Philly Roman Catholic small forward Lamar Stevens, who then hits Marquette next weekend. Indiana is also involved.

 

**Miles Bridges, a 6-7 small forward from Huntington (W.V.) Prep, visits Michigan State this weekend ahead of trips to Kentucky, Michigan and North Carolina in October. He saw Indiana in August. For the big football game with Oregon, MSU also has Cassius Winston, Josh Langford, Nick Ward, Brandon Johns, Brian Bowen, Brandon McCoy, Foster Loyer, Xavier Tillman, Isaiah Livers, Davion Williams and Thomas Kithier.

 

**Central Florida picked up a pledge on Thursday from  Clayton Hughes, a 6-6 wing from the University School Of Jackson.
