Recruiting Roundup: Big Visits on Tap for Maryland, UNLV, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Xavier, Arizona

Kobi Simmons UAMaryland, UNLV, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Xavier and Arizona are among the schools who will host some priority recruits on this first weekend of September.

Here’s an overview of those visits and others. Check back as this list will be updated over the weekend.

**Maryland will continue its recent run of high-profile recruiting visits by hosting Kevin Huerter for an official this weekend. The 6-foot-6 Huerter is coming off a visit to Villanova that went well. His AAU coach, Jim Hart, said the point guard plans to take all five officials before making a decision. Meantime, 6-10 Wenyen Gabriel pushed his official to Maryland to next weekend. he is also considering Kentucky, Duke, UConn and Providence and will have school visits with all five at Wilbraham & Monson. Duke, Providence and Maryland come in Sept. 9, with Kentucky and UConn in on Sept. 10. He also has officials set for Kentucky (Sept. 25-27) and Duke (Oct. 16-18).

The Terps had a highly productive August, hosting a slew of big names including Huerter, Myles Douglas, Josh Jackson, Taurean Thompson, Billy Preston, Melo Eggleston and Trevon Duval.

**Beginning Friday, UNLV hosts Kobi Simmons, a  6-4 combo guard from Alpharetta (GA) St. Francis. Simmons is coming off an official to Kentucky and will visit Ohio State the weekend after UNLV. He’s also considering Georgia and his father told SNY.tv he will decide after the Ohio State visit.

**With the big football game with Texas set for Saturday night on NBC, Notre Dame hosts Javin DeLaurier and John Mooney, as well as 2016 pledge T.J. Gibbs. The 6-9 DeLaurier also visits Texas (Sept. 12), Princeton (Sept. 19) and Stanford (Oct. 3). Mooney is a 6-7 power forward from Altamonte Springs (FL) Lake Brantley who is also considering Vanderbilt, Stanford and Wake Forest. Gibbs is a 6-2 guard from Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) who committed to the Irish in May.

**Following its trip to Italy where it went 3-1, Georgetown hosts 6-3 combo guard Curtis Jones of Huntington (W.V.) Prep. Jones visited Indiana last weekend with teammate Miles Bridges and will visit Oklahoma State next weekend.

**VCU hosts De’Riante Jenkins, a 6-6 small forward from Hargrave (VA) Military Academy who also has officials set for Tennessee (Sept. 11), Rutgers (Sept. 25) and Clemson (Oct. 3).

**Following an unofficial trip to Rutgers on Wednesday, Brewster (N.H.) Academy power forward Taurean Thompson takes an official to Xavier.

**Arizona hosts 6-4 combo guard Andrew Jones of Irving (TX) MacArthur. He recently took unofficials to Texas, Louisville, Baylor, Texas A&M and Arizona.

**Arkansas hosts point guard Jaylen Fisher from Arlington (TN) Bolton. He’s also considering Baylor, Indiana, Memphis, UNLV and LSU,

**D.J. Harvey, a 6-6 2017 wing from DeMatha (MD) Catholic, will trip to both Duke and N.C. State on Friday , his dad confirmed to SNY.tv after it was reported by Andrew Slater of 247Sports.com.

**Memphis hosts 6-6 College of Southern Idaho shooting guard Armond Davis. He will also visit Texas AM Sept. 12, Alabama Sept. 19 and LSU Oct. 3, per coach Jared Phay.
