2015 NIKE EYBL. SESSION 2. LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY. LIVE PERIOD.By CHIP MILLER

Lexington, Ky. — Five-star combo guard De’Aaron Fox and his Houston Hoops team currently sit on top of the C Division in the Nike EYBL tour with a 7-1 record, their only loss coming to the PSA Cardinals, 66-63.

“It was a tough game,” the 6-foot-3 2016 guard from Katy (TX) Cypress Lakes said last weekend. “A couple of calls didn’t go our way and we missed a lot of gimmes. I think that really decided the game.”

On the EYBL tour, Fox is averaging 13.2 points, 6.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. Despite solid numbers, Fox says he has some high expectations for the summer.

“I want to be the MVP of the EYBL and win a championship,” Fox said emphatically. “I want to show coaches that I can lead any type of team. I’ve played with three different teams in the EYBL and I think we are just getting better and better.”

He Tweeted his decision Saturday night.

“I was really comfortable with the coaching staff, the situation and the personnel,” Nwamu told SNY.tv. “The role they envision for me is to be able to come in and contribute at a high level.”

The 6-foot-4 junior guard from Mercer just visited Nevada and also considered Pittsburgh. He visited UNLV April 17 and was a major target for the Rebels.

And that school isn’t any one of the blue bloods like Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, North Carolina or Arizona.

No, that program is the California Golden Bears.

With the somewhat surprising addition late Friday night of the 6-foot-7 Jaylen Brown, Cal now has players ranked No. 1 (Brown) and No. 5 (Ivan Rabb) in the Scout rankings and No. 3 (Brown) and 7 (Rabb) according to 247. Cal has the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation, according to 247.

And with the return of First Team All-Pac-12 standout guard Tyrone Wallace, you can bet the NBA scouts will be all over Cal next season. Brown is projected as the No. 2 pick in 2016 and Wallace is at No. 34, according to DraftExpress.com.

“There will probably be a scout at every game this year and certainly every conference game,” one NBA scout told SNY.tv of Cal.

2014 adidas NationsJaylen Brown is taking his talents to California.

The 6-foot-7 wing from Marietta (GA) Wheeler pledged to the Bears on Friday night, calling head coach Cuonzo Martin to let him know he was coming. Assistant coach Tracy Webster gets the assist on the recruitment.

Brown chose Cal over Michigan, Kentucky and North Carolina. Brown also recently cut Kansas, UCLA, Georgia and Georgia Tech from his list.

Brown is ranked the No. 2 small forward in the Class of 2015 by 247Sports.com and the No. 3 player in the class.

Brown joins a class now ranked No. 5 nationally by 247Sports that includes big man Ivan Rabb, small forward Davon Dillard and shooting guard Tyson Jolly.

With point guard Tyrone Wallace, Jabari Brid and Jordan Mathews coming back, Martin’s team is loaded with talent.

St. John’s coach Chris Mullin landed his second commitment of the week on Friday when Malik Ellison, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Burlington (N.J.) Life Center Academy, chose the Red Storm.

Ellison visited St. John’s on Tuesday, the same day that former Pittsburgh small forward Durand Johnson was on campus and Johnson then committed on Wednesday.

“The main thing was opportunity, to go in there and make an immediate impact,” Ellison told SNY.tv by phone when asked why he chose St. John’s.
