LaGerald Vick to Kansas, Could Reclass to 2015

LaGerald Vick, a 6-foot-5 2016 shooting guard from Memphis (TN) Douglass, committed to Kansas on Sunday night, his AAU coach told SNY.tv.

The No. 17 shooting guard in 2016 according to 247Sports.com, Vick also considered Kansas State and Kentucky both of which he visited.

There’s a “good chance” he will reclass to 2015, a source said, giving the Jayhawks immediate help in the backcourt. They currently have two forwards committed for 2015 in Carlton Bragg and Cheick Diallo.

“The main reason he committed is he just feels like coach Self made him a priority even though this went by quick,” Hurd told Scout.com. “He thinks he can do well his first year and really take off in his second year.”

“He loved the facilities and he really got along with coach Self,” Hurd added. “He wants to play for coach Self. He thinks if he does what he wants him to do he can be like Ben McLemore.”

Vick initially committed to SMU in October over Georgia Tech and Western Kentucky.

“He’s a really athletic scorer/shooter who can create for himself and others,” Team Thad coach Norton Hurd said.

Kansas has one scholarship left. They had also been involved for 2015 shooting guard Kobie Eubanks, but now will not take any more guards, sources said.
