    9975673NEW YORK — Kentucky’s Barry “Slice” Rohrssen is expected to join Chris Mullin’s staff at St. John’s and should be introduced this week, sources told SNY.tv.

    “Yes, it’s done,” one source told SNY.tv. “He’s in New York now. Will be announced this week.”

    Rohrssen, a Brooklyn native who still keeps an apartment in Riverdale, is close friends with Mullin, who recently returned to his alma mater to take over the coaching reins.

    Rohrssen will join former Iowa State assistant Matt Abdelmassih on Mullin’s staff. Mullin, Abdelmassih and Terence Mullin, the coach’s brother, were out on the road recruiting this weekend.

    The 6-foot-6 junior guard is considering Arizona, Gonzaga, Louisville, Maryland and Marquette, he said by text and on Twitter.

    He will visit Arizona April 17-19 and Louisville April 19-21, according to Scout.com. Gonzaga will also watch him play April 22, per Scout.

    He plans on making a decision early next month.

    “I was thinking sometime in May,” he told Scout. “I haven’t really put a definite stamp on on it. I’m thinking at the beginning of May, which gives myself the chance to take visits and see how it feels at these schools.”

    Ivan RabbIvan Rabb will announce his college choice on Monday night at 10 p.m. EST, his high school coach Lou Richie confirmed to SNY.tv.

    We previously reported here that sources indicated the 6-foot-10 Rabb would pick his hometown school of Cal over Arizona.

    “I know people are questioning why I would go to Cal, but you have to see past that and see the potential on the team,” Rabb told USA Basketball on Thursday before the Nike Hoop Summit. “I see how much better they got from last year to this year. I just see the energy and they’re hungry.”

    Needless to say, the addition of Rabb would be huge for head coach Cuonzo Martin and assistant Yanni Hufnagel. Rabb is the projected No. 8 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com.

    1428798253Canadian point guard Jamal Murray led the World Team to the Nike Hoop Summit championship on Saturday in Portland, Ore.

    The 6-foot-5, 205-pound point guard out of Orangeville Prep and the CIA Bounce AAU team went for 30 points on 12-of-22 shooting and 5 assists as the World Team beat the US. team, 103-101.

    The World scoring record of 34 belongs to Enes Kanter.

    “Jamal Murray was the best guard on the floor today for either team,” ESPN2’s Fran Fraschilla said on air.

    TYSON JOLLY 1220 AD 150California may have missed out on Caleb Swanigan, but they did add Tyson Jolly.

    The 6-foot-4, 190-pound shooting guard from Oklahoma City (OK) Putnam City West committed to Cal late Friday night.

    He also considered Gonzaga, Oklahoma State, SMU and UTEP.

    “[I liked] they coaches,” Jolly told SNY.tv. “And how they were on me every day, Coach Yanni [Hufnagel] and Coach [Cuonzo] Martin about how much they need me. And when I got to campus the team loved me. It seemed just like home and plus it’s in the Pac-12.”

    HAMIDOU-DIALLO200-11-22The Putnam (Conn.) Science Academy duo of Hamidou Diallo and Mamadou Diarra are adding offers at a fast and furious pace.

    Seton Hall and VCU both offered the 6-4 Diallo (pictured), a 2017 shooting guard ranked No. 38 in that class by Rivals. He previously held offers from St. John’s, Providence, UConn and Minnesota, among others.

    “Hamidou has a great feel for the game which allows him to execute at a high level on the floor,” New York Jayhawks coach Jay David, also an assistant at Long Island Lutheran, previously told SNY.tv. “His ability to score and pass at such a high level is what I think makes him special.”

    Malik Newman actionMalik Newman has already been approached about playing professionally overseas.

    According to a report from Evan Daniels of Scout.com, teams from China and Europe have reached out to the 6-foot-4 guard from Callaway (MS) who will play in Saturday’s Nike Hoop Summit for Team USA.

    “We have [heard from overseas teams],” Horatio Webster, Newman’s father, told Daniels. “One time he asked me about what it would be like overseas and then another time, he says ‘No dad I’m not going to do that.’ Of course I’m not going to make him do it.”

    Emmanuel Mudiay chose to play in China instead of going to SMU after there were some issues with the NCAA Clearinghouse, and he reportedly signed for more than $1 million. Now Mudiay is a projected top-5 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
