    CDJukjxW0AMmhi0.jpg-largeOn the same day they landed point guard Derryck Thornton, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and his entire staff met Tuesday night with Brandon Ingram, the highly coveted 2015 forward from Kinston (NC) High.

    This was Ingram’s second meeting with Coach K and the staff since Friday. He met with Kansas on Saturday and N.C. State on Monday and is set to meet with North Carolina head coach Roy Williams Wednesday before announcing next Monday.

    “What has stood out with them is them telling me how unique I was,” Ingram told ESPNU on Tuesday before the second Duke visit. “[Coach K] knows a lot about me and they are a great fit for me.”

    Apparently the addition of Thornton to Duke’s recruiting class made a positive impact on Ingram.

    “It impacts [my decision] a lot,” he told ESPNU. “That [lack of a point guard] was one of my concerns coming and looking at the particular schools so that impacts a lot.”

    vwlpqg5gbx8eq6m5Shannon Evans, a 6-foot-1 sophomore guard and second-team All-MAC selection, will visit Arizona State this weekend and then possibly Miami after getting his release from Buffalo.

    Evans holds offers from Arizona State, Miami and Boston College, with interest from St. John’s, Old Dominion, UNC-Wilmington and UNC-Charlotte.

    “I have a visit with Arizona State this weekend [Friday],” Evans, who remains close with new Arizona State and former Buffalo coach Bobby Hurley, told SNY.tv by phone on Tuesday. “I’m considering [Arizona State] a lot, that’s my guy. He’s like my best friend, a father figure in my life.”

    Duke has its point guard for the 2015-16 season.

    After meeting Monday with  Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, 6-foot-2 Henderson (NV) Findlay Prep point guard Derryck Thornton opted to reclassify to 2015 and commit to the Blue Devils, sources confirmed to SNY.tv.

    Paul Biancardi of ESPN.com first reported the commitment.

    “Once Tyus [Jones] declared, Duke came after me hard,” Thornton told Biancardi.

    “Last night, Coach K and [assistant] Jeff Capel came in for the visit and they told me how much confidence they have in me to be there point guard next year. They were very prepared about my game and their plan for me.

    There is no doubt that Andrew Wiggins intending to play for the Canadian national team this summer is a big deal, and a key figurehead in the world of Canadian basketball agrees.

    “I think it’s huge,” CIA Bounce co-founder and owner of Tony McIntyre told SNY.tv on the 4 Quarters Podcast on Monday afternoon. “Obviously, all these guys grew up playing for Canada basketball, grew up wanting to represent their country and for Andrew to solidify the fact that he is going to do it this summer, especially with Pan Am Games being in Toronto, I think it’s huge for the Pan Am Games, huge for basketball in Canada and I think it’s a huge boost for Team Canada itself.”

    10421001-1St. John’s has landed a commitment from Missouri State transfer Ron Mvouika, a 6-6 shooter from Paris via Huntington (W.V.) Prep and Sheridan (WY) College.

    He has one year of eligibility and will be available immediately.

    Mvouika had a back injury last season and played in just two games at Missouri State.
